Behind the blogger
It’s another Sunday so here is a new blog post everyone. I thought I’d do a little something different and let you guys go behind the blogger to get to know a bit more about me as a person. There is so much I will cover in this blog post and I hope you all understand me more after this. If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know a lot about how I speak and what I do to have fun but I will also go more into detail about that too. I’d love to know more about my readers too so feel free to comment with some stuff about you too. Let’s get right into the blog post.
My Background
I am now 26 years old and I’ve stayed in Glasgow, Scotland my entire life. I do enjoy it here despite the problems the city has but I do think I’d never want to change where I live unless it was to somewhere else in the city. I only have one sibling too and she is my 22-year-old sister. We are fairly close now following my mother’s death in March last year but I wouldn’t say we were overly close before that. I’ve not had my dad around since I was 6 years old when he split up with my mum so I did my own thing a lot of the time while my sister was my mum’s sidekick. This was mainly revolving around gaming or hanging about with my friends as I got older.
When it comes to school I ended up going to one not far from me. All of my friends from primary school went there too so I felt at ease knowing that I would at least know a few people when I got there. I never had the best grades but given bad luck with illness in my last 2 years of high school I got what I could and it got me into college so I guess I can’t be too disappointed. At college, I spent 3 years between 2 different colleges and managed to obtain an accountancy qualification at my first college and then a business qualification at my 2nd one.
As far as jobs go I’ve only ever had 2. One only lasted around 11 weeks and the 2nd was for 10 months. I have now been unemployed for 15 months due to my mother’s death, illness and then the current COVID-19 situation meaning there are far fewer jobs around Glasgow currently. I am hoping that I get one soon because I don’t want to dig any further into my savings.
My hobbies
I have a few hobbies now that I have built up over the years.
My first one was gaming. I started gaming as young as the age of 2 or 3 on the Nintendo 64. I also ended up owning the likes of the first Playstation, Nintendo Gameboy and Nintendo Gamecube. I then chose to engage with the likes of PSP, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PS2 and more. As I got into high school the Xbox 360 was my console of choice for 5 months until I switched over to PS3 so that I could get into Call of Duty and Fifa with my friends. Currently, I am still heavily engaged with the PS4 and I see the PS5 being my next console but not for quite a while as I won’t have the cash to upgrade when it comes out.
My next hobby was football. I grew up in a family of mainly Celtic fans so obviously, this did influence the fact I am a Celtic fan too. I haven’t played football since 2016 due to several injuries sadly but I used to play so much when I was younger. I also used to go to Celtic games too but haven’t been since 2014 due to the money involved and it was always something that I had done with my mum and sister so it wouldn’t feel right without my mum there.
I had a year where I created Youtube videos for gaming too and this was done as a hobby. I played Call Of Duty mainly in these but I also included GTA 5, Fifa and Rocket League too as well as other random games. Call Of Duty was great for me at the time as I ended up playing with other gamers and it made me more confident. I ended up stopping due to not having time to make the content as I got into my current relationship and I was ill a lot at the time too.
Blogging is my latest hobby. I mainly started up to talk about my mental health issues as a way to help others with their issues but it quickly turned into more than just that. I am now on my 3rd blog site and 5 weeks short of 3 years blogging but I cover quite literally anything on my blog and I don’t plan anything that I write. I save ideas in my drafts but I just choose the topic as I sit down to write with no pre-planning involved.
My goals
I have a few goals in life to be quite honest.
My 1st one is to grow my blog beyond what I did before. I once managed to hit 2460 views in a month and I had a total of nearly 900 followers before I stopped being self-hosted. I put in a lot of work behind the scenes so hopefully one day it will pay off. Social media algorithms aren’t as kind as they used to be so it will be tougher to grow than it was previously was. I am willing to try as hard as humanly possible though as I’m too stubborn to quit.
My 2nd goal is to keep in my relationship for the rest of my life. I didn’t have much luck in my previous 3 relationships only managing 6 months in total but I am nearly 3 and a half years into this one so there are possibilities to make it last forever.
My 3rd goal is to get fully healthy physically so that I am on par with how good my mental health is. I’ve had stomach issues since I was 19 and it has taken until now to have fewer issues with sickness. I still need to eat so few foods too just to make sure I am okay. I am hoping one day that I won’t need to think as much about it.
My 4th goal is to get into a stable job that I am happy in and treated well in. My 2 jobs so far have lacked so much when it comes to fair treatment. I was so underused in my 1st job and then in my 2nd, I was mistreated by the colleague I worked closest with but it was barely dealt with. I’m hoping it’s 3rd time lucky on the job front.
What motivates me?
I am an extremely hardworking person as you can probably tell from my almost constant social media use and my longer posts now surfacing too. You may wonder how I manage to stay motivated and to be honest, I don’t always know but when I do it goes something like this. I’m a very stubborn individual so I never give up on anything. I just want to be in the best position for my loved ones as well as myself.
I wake up motivated each day and mainly this is because I know I can always achieve something even if it’s as little as just getting a few blog views or applying for a job or two. A lot of people forget that you don’t have to aim consistently high constantly with every milestone or achievement. Even a small step in the right direction is a good step. I do aim too high sometimes but that’s also part of being incredibly confident in what I am capable of. I just love showing what I can do so people know what I do.
My final thoughts
I hope you guys have enjoyed this behind the blogger post. I am willing to do another with more about me if you guys enjoy this one and want to know more. I’d appreciate it so much if you comment with what you love about this one and what you’d like to see in the next one. Have a great Sunday and I hope your week ahead goes great. See you guys next time.

Just keep at it. Time will reveal its plan for you as long as you keep stepping up. It may be what you hoped for it may be something else but your attitude will still be with you and serve you well.

It was interesting to find out some more about you Paul! I’m sure you will find a job that suits you and you will love it. It’s great that you have found a partner you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with. I’m a hopeless romantic so I love hearing things like that x

Hi Paul, it’s nice to meet you! 🙂 I enjoyed reading about you and hope that you meet your monthly blog view goal this month.
I hope you’re keeping safe and well and that your sickness is lying low. My father has Crohn’s disease and also speaks about the difficulty that lies in not being to just eat whatever he wants in case it causes additional problems. Have you got a list of trigger foods to avoid, just in case? 🙂
My fiance and I would be happy to subscribe to your YouTube channel, if you ever decide to go back to video creation! My fiance started out on Twitch a couple of months ago as he’s also been a gaming fan since his childhood.
The most inspirational, poignant take away from this post for me was, “even a small step in the right direction is a good step.” You’re absolutely right, and I need to remind myself of this every day so I don’t give up my dream of blogging full-time. Please don’t give up on your dreams either! 🙂
I find that a good way to grow Twitter accounts/drive traffic is through retweeting groups. Try tagging groups like the following whenever you tweet, so that they reach a larger audience.

Also try checking out @RTUltimate and @TheNeedToLive for retweets and getting your posts shared!
Hope this helps. 🙂
Best of luck and keep safe!
